Velkommen til Free Software Foundation Europes vevside. FSFE ble stiftet 10. mars 2001 og arbeider med alle europeiske aspekter ved fri programvare, særlig GNU-prosjektet. Vi støtter aktivt utviklingen av fri programvare og utbredelsen av GNU-baserte operativsystemer, som for eksempel GNU/Linux. Vårt kompetansesenter for politikere, advokater og journalister sikrer fri programvares juridiske, politiske og sosiale fremtid.

FSFEs arbeide er gjort mulig takket være mange individuelle bidrag, særlig til Fellowship of FSFE. En måte å bidra på er å bli medlem nå, samt å oppfordre andre til å gjøre det samme.

FSFE feirer GNU-prosjektets 25-årsjubileum 2008-09-27 Idag markeres 25-årsdagen siden den offisielle annonseringen av GNU-prosjektet, et banebrytende initiativ for å utvikle et operativsystem som gir brukere frihetene til å endre og publisere nye versjoner, alene eller i samarbeid med hverandre. Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) gratulerer GNU med de betydlige fremskrittene som er gjort iløpet av første 25 årene, og ser frem til å jobbe videre sammen for å fremme frihet innen programvare. Kommende begivenheter Fellowship Meeting in Frankfurt, Germany 2008-10-08 Wednesday, 8 October, the first Fellowship meeting in the Rhein/Main area will take place in Frankfurt: We are going to meet in the "Club Voltaire", Kleine Hochstraße 5 (2 minutes from "Alte Oper"), 60313 Frankfurt/Main We will meet there around 19:00h. Zurich Fellowship meeting 2008-10-10 There will be a Fellowship meeting at the FSFE Zurich office from 19:00 until 20:30 on Friday the 10th of October. Some free (as in beer) beer will be provided and all Fellows nearby are invited to attend. It will be a good chance to get to know each other in person, to discuss ways of spreading the word about Free Software in Switzerland, and to generally have a good time. This meeting will be hosted by Benjamin Morant, FSFE's intern at the Zurich Office. If you are coming to the meeting please let Benjamin know by sending an email to morant@fsfeurope.org. 'Licensing questions and other legal issues' workshop in Zurich, Switzerland 2008-10-17 Shane Coughlan, Freedom Task Force coordinator at FSFE, will deliver a two day course entitled 'Free Software licenses and other questions' at the Digicomp Academy Zurich, Switzerland. The course is intended for project managers, developers and technicians who wish to become more knowledgeable regarding code distribution options. FSCONS 2008, Gothenburg, Sweden 2008-10-24 2008-10-26 For 2008, FSCONS is a collaboration of FSFE, Creative Commons, and Wikimedia Sweden. There will be three tracks (Free Culture, Free Software, Free Content), each lead by one of the main organisers. Topics will range from modern kernel design over citizen journalism all the way across to licensing in the 21st century. NLUUG Autumn Conference and CELF Embedded Linux Conference Europe, Ede, Netherlands 2008-11-06 2008-11-07 The FSFE will be attending the NLUUG Autumn Conference on Thursday 6th November. This year's theme is 'mobility'. Feel free to come to our booth and ask about Free Software! Shane Coughlan, Freedom Task Force coordinator at FSFE, will also deliver talk entitled 'The strategic implementation of free software in business' at the CELF Embedded Linux Conference Europe 2008 at the same location on the following day, Friday 7th November. The successful implementation of Free Software requires an understanding of the best policy and processes applicable to its context. Shane will discuss how FSFE's legal project and its European Legal Network have engaged with this issue by producing generic market knowledge for supply and purchasing contracts, work flow documents and deployment methodology.
